Hey there girl.

So I get lots of questions on the blog and in email form about either how to make it OR about thinking about how to start trying to make it OR getting stuck trying to make it. A gentleman named Paul emailed me a very nice comprehensive email and I started to write a very nice…

Jake’s been making some very excellent posts directed towards people interested in becoming photographers. Here he talks about building a community of friends that unconditionally rep each other, which I always emphasize as being the most important link in “making it.” We all love Jake very much.

I came across the work of  25-year-old freelance photographer Mustafah Abdulaziz  “Memory Loss” and was immeditly captivated by his images. The serie, reminiscent of road trip movies, explore the notion of distance and disconnection. Mustafah spent three weeks driving across the country with the photographer Justin Maxon and gathered 52 rolls of film. Every image is like a little gem, an short candid istant of life, beautifully captured by this young and promising photographer.
You can read more on his work of  Mustafah Abdulaziz and the American Road Trip Article for the NYTimes.com or visit his website.
Alec Soth / Carrie Thompson

Haven’t posted an Alec Soth appreciation post in a while…..so referencing his recent blog post (gotta say, I’m enjoying his activity boost at LBM blog), he tips his hat in tribute to the the recently departed Eve Arnold. But also raises a glass to his studio manager Carrie Thompson, a name all Alec Soth fans will be familiar with from his website and blogs.

Its only after reading that that I finally got around to looking at Carrie’s website and there is a stunning body of work, refreshingly different to Alec’s and portrays a very sympathetic and gentle approach to image-making.

New work coming soon.
